Being a parent, your child's unhappiness can hurt you more than your own. Whether it's being rejected by a friend, a bad flu or disappointment in a baseball game, your child hurting is painful to you. This is due to the love and compassion you feel and shows that we can extend ourselves beyond our own skin. When your child has a rash, it can also be a time your heart aches for him because the discomfort and the self-consciousness he has can be easily felt by you.
There are certain rashes such as eczema or psoriasis that can be chronic in nature. Also, some children get hives, will get them repeatedly due to stress, certain foods or other triggers. If your child gets a disease such as chicken pox, measles or scabies, this is time limited and will be gone with the proper treatment and remedies. However, chronic rashes can be more challenging with up and down success patterns.
Giving your child pep talks, hope and lots of love is critical through this period in their life. If your child has eczema, let him know that it is not contagious to others. Explain this to the teacher and your child's parents so that that they can communicate it to the other children. There is nothing worse than being teased, told you have cooties or alienated when you are already in physical pain or discomfort. Make sure your child understands that there rash is not communicable to others. Of course, if there is a bacterial, fungal or infection that is contagious, such as chicken pox or a fungal rash , treat it so your child is able to re-engage again with others.
Be aware that your child may feel worse at night. Many skin rashes seem to be much itchier in the evening. This can be because there are less distractions or due to tiredness. Help your child be preparing appropriate baths that are soothing such as oatmeal baths, using an antihistamine your doctor recommends and having games to engage in after dinner. Rent movies, give your child extra time and let him know that his skin will heal and to not get discouraged.

Circular Eczema: Understanding Discoid Dermatitis
There are many forms of skin conditions that can cause irritation. There is a particular type of skin condition called Discoid eczema. This skin problem mostly occurs with adults and is shaped like a coin and the skin is reddish in color. The rashes are generally located on the torso or lower legs. In appearance, the rash can be mistaken for ringworm and is very itchy. It can also secrete clear fluids especially if it has gotten a bacterial infection.
Even though this particular skin inflammation tends to erupt on the lower legs, it can affect any area of your body. The other areas where it is commonly found are the back, bottom, and arms. The rash will eventually crust over, become scaly and is always very itchy. Scaly patches can appear on the lower legs, wrists, head or forearms due to scratching the intense itch, which in turn causes it to become more irritated. The initial onset of this skin problem can be due to a minor insect bite or a burn on the skin.
This skin rash is often called varicose eczema when the rash appears down the legs, around the veins. This rash will look like patches that can last for months. The patches range in size up to several centimeters span, however the skin between the patches may appear normal, but still be irritated and dry. The symptoms of this rash can be very itchy or have no extreme irritation at all.
Once these circular patches clear up, they will still leave their mark for awhile. This can last for several weeks to a couple months. These marks can either be lighter or dark than your normal pigment. It is important to always protect your skin as this form of rash tends to occur as a result of skin damage. Try to keep your affect skin away from chemicals like various detergents. Even excess water usage can aggravate your skin.
Discoid eczema is not due to hereditary or genetics but tends to affect middle aged to elderly men. It is not associated with other illnesses like asthma and is not a result of food allergy or poisoning. This rash cannot be passed to others but you need to be aware of any bacterial infection that may occur from scratching and tearing the skin.

Keep You Esteem When Your Skin Has Problems
Whether it's acne, a rash or another skin disorder, it can not only have physical results such as excessive itching or burning, but it also can psychologically be very upsetting. We identify often too much with only our physical appearance and can want to hide or avoid situations if our skin is not at it's best. Acne and rashes can also be chronic or recurring which makes this something that can last a while.
First of all, get a few opinions on your skin situation. If your doctor isn't helping you get a second opinion. Research also any supplements that may help your skin. If you use the internet, be aware that there are marketers that will endorse products that they may not be familiar with. Be sure to see if there is good feedback or that the products have a money back guarantee that can protect you. To feel frustrated with your skin plus be broke is not a good state and will just add to your stress.
Relaxation is also important for both your inner state and also even your skin. When you are relaxed your sleep is better, your immune system is stronger and your circulation improves. All this is helpful for the skin. But more importantly, keeping your mind calm should be a high priority. Take the challenges of your skin as a growth opportunity to be able to take yourself less seriously, have a sense of humor and keep perspective. Whatever is happening with your skin is not going to kill you and there are many people that would be envious due to having a deteriorating illness. Gratitude isn't easy when you feel that your friends have it better, but there is still so much to be grateful about. Remember these
things each day. Also, skin problems may be a way to get you to not judge everything on the surface. This will be helpful in making you more caring, reflective and a better person.
Of course, you still should get medical advice, research holistic approaches and look for ways to improve your skin, but do not base your self-esteem on appearance.
